Why These Targets
Why These Targets
The Ripple AI-ffect prioritizes adults ages 60 and older, students and teachers, and community organizations because research shows these groups face both the greatest risks and the greatest opportunity gaps in the age of artificial intelligence. Older adults are increasingly targeted by sophisticated AI-enabled scams, including voice cloning and deepfake impersonation. In 2024 alone, adults over 60 reported nearly $4.9 billion in fraud losses, with scam tactics becoming more convincing through artificial intelligence. At the same time, surveys show high concern among older adults about AI-driven fraud, yet many lack the knowledge and training to recognize red flags. By providing clear, practical AI and digital safety education, we help seniors protect their finances, identities, and confidence in an increasingly digital world.
We also focus on students, teachers, and community organizations because AI is rapidly reshaping education and the workforce. Research shows that while most educators see the potential benefits of AI, many report insufficient training, unclear policies, and concerns about cheating, bias, and data privacy. Students need guidance to use AI tools in ways that strengthen critical thinking rather than replace it. Meanwhile, small businesses and nonprofits are adopting AI at growing rates, yet many express significant concerns about privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible implementation. The Ripple AI-ffect addresses these gaps by equipping educators, learners, and community leaders with the skills to use AI ethically, safely, and strategically—ensuring that opportunity expands without increasing harm.
